BIOGRAPHY

Gavin Frank is a singer, voice facilitator, Kirtan leader, musician, recording artist, and composer devoted to helping people discover and embody the fullness of their authentic voice. His musical path began at the age of 10 as a chorister, where he first experienced the profound expressive and spiritual power of the human voice. He went on to complete a Music Degree in 1990, specialising in Free Composition, which laid the foundations for his lifelong exploration of sound, creativity, and improvisation.

Following his studies, Gavin travelled around the world, immersing himself in diverse musical traditions, festivals, artistic communities, and street performance. These rich and formative experiences deepened his understanding of music as both an artistic and human practice, and shaped his inclusive, intuitive, and holistic approach to voice work.

In 1999, Gavin began a decade of dedicated study with pioneering voice teacher Chloe Goodchild, whose work profoundly influenced his approach to vocal expression as a pathway to personal transformation and embodied presence. He has also studied South Indian Carnatic singing at the Bhavan Centre in London and attended workshops with vocal specialist Tim Jones, further enriching his cross-cultural and integrative vocal practice. Indian raga is a strong influence in his work and he continues to study and explore.

For over 26 years, Gavin has been empowering people from all walks of life to find, embody, and express their true voice. His work bridges music, wellbeing, creativity, and self-expression, supporting individuals in developing vocal confidence, authenticity, and freedom.

Gavin leads chanting groups, voice workshops, and retreats throughout the UK and Europe, as well as offering individual voice and harmonium sessions. His work extends into a wide range of settings, including musicianship and harmonium skill-sharing workshops, voice work with drama students to support vocal presence and delivery, and therapeutic music sessions with individuals recovering from addiction. He has also worked as a musician for 5Rhythms dance retreats in France, Morocco, and Switzerland, and has composed songs for children’s literature.

As a performing and recording artist, Gavin is one half of the duo Madrum (www.madrum.com), who have released three albums: This Life, Marrakech, and Soma, alongside additional digital releases. He continues to develop new recording projects, including a chant album and original compositions and improvisations.

Gavin has performed at the Barbican Centre in London in collaboration with renowned choreographer and dancer Darren Johnston, bringing his voice into interdisciplinary performance contexts.

A multi-instrumentalist, Gavin plays Indian harmonium, piano, guitar, drum, and oboe, integrating some of these instruments into his facilitation and creative work.

Gavin is committed to sharing his work more widely and is available for workshops, retreats, performances, and collaborations throughout the UK and internationally.
